Mr Stompie

Mr Stompie is another one of my MOC's based on Batman Lego, I dont have a particular preference for Batman Lego but it just turns out that way sometimes.

Mr Stompie adds a bit of heavy muscle to the Joker's aresnal. He's a remotley controlled robot of epic proportions, a prototype, built for destruction and to keep bats at bay while he's up to general villanry. Normally controlled by one of the Joker's more trusted henchmen (so the Joker can sneek away while "Bats" is busy).

As is often the case, this whole thing began with one interesting piece, the printed face piece which started out as the front of  a missile on the Joker helicopter. Not exceptionally creative to use a piece with a face on it as a face I guess, but there are some parts of Mr Stompie that I love.

The face print itself is pretty darn cool but with the addition of the white "horn" piece as a crooked nose, he looks kinda creepy. Two ice cream pieces make perfect candy floss style hair tufts and the collar and tie are one of my favorite parts of ol Stompie.

His right arm is a flame thrower, I added the pilot light for a bit of extra detail. Flame pieces can be added to the nozzle for effect if required (as seen in the field test below).

His left arm features a heavy metal ball and chain, you dont have to be the worlds greatest detective to know getting hit by that is bad idea!.

I love the mechanics on the back also, used quite a few fiddly pieces to add pnumatic looking piston detail. The arms can be adjusted up and down by removing studs from the pnumatic section at the bottom of the arms.

The addition of a few 1x1 silver round plates gives Mr Stompie a metalic look IMO.

Poor old Batman never stood a chance! Im sure he'll be back though.

And finally....Mr Stompie in action during testing.

Crime Alley MOC

Finally managed to find a few mins to upload some pictures of my Crime Alley MOC. Any fan of Batman comics will know that the dark knight seldom misses an opportunity to flashback to his parents death and turn all dark and moody, well with my lil Crime Alley MOC, he can finally pay his respects for ever.

The MOC features a Mosaic floor section which depicts the outline of his parents body's from the crime scene. Didnt want to add too much detail as is only a 12 X 12 stud creation so, we have a dustbin to give it that alley feel, and a working lampost as well as the man himself complete with bunch of flowers.

The lampost has small LED running through its centre, recently found some cheap LED's which fit perfectly into any piece with a hollow stud. They were from those cheap battery operated sets of christmas lights you can get, you get 10 LED's and a battery pack for £1.....result!!

Poor Bruce, you can almost see the pain in his face :'(

Lego Movie Review (Spoilers)

Was lucky enought to check out the Lego Movie at the weekend in a super early preview. It is an awesome movie, animation is very cool and the look of it is fantastic, plenty of Lego references for young and old, !!SPOILER ALERT!! President Business is trying to make sure everything stays perfect using the Kra..Gl.e or Krazy Glue as we know it. Only the piece of resistance (which we discover is actually the lid of the Krazy Glue) can stop him. Much later in the movie we discover that the whole thing is being played out by the son of Will Ferrell (in the movie not actual son) in a very large basement filled with lego diaramas, City, Wild West, Space Etc. Will Ferrel (Dad) does not want his lego models played with as in his mind Lego is not a toy, so, he intends to glue everything in place to stop his son mucking around with it. Very clever and enjoyable movie. We see Lego being used in very creative ways by the master builders and the message being pushed here is very much that Lego is whatever you want it to be, throw away the instructions and build whatever you can imagine. This is where all the 2 in 1 sets come into play with the citizens of the city building all kinds of flying contraptions from standard vehicles in order to fight Lord Business. The movie is fantastic and for me promotes the real meaning and message of Lego.....that is is whatever you can think of.
